Kachu
Privacy Policy
Last updated 5 October 2026
Kachu is an Android app that locks the apps you choose each day until you finish a short neck and shoulder routine. This policy covers the Kachu app (Play package app.closed12.app) and this website.
Who is responsible
Vikas Yadav (sole proprietor), Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. Questions and privacy requests: vikasbuilds.ofc@gmail.com.
The short version
Kachu has no account and no server of its own. Your detailed progress, settings and photos stay on your phone. Camera images are processed on your phone and are not uploaded. Google's ad, analytics and crash tools receive identifiers, usage events (including routine completion) and diagnostic data described below.
Kept on your phone only
What you tell us in onboarding: your first name, age range and daily scroll hours. They are used for in-app text only.
Your settings: the apps you lock, your lock time and your reminder choice.
Your progress: which days you finished the routine and how many emergency unlocks you used.
Daily photos (Premium, off by default): if you turn them on, Kachu takes one selfie when you finish a routine and saves it in the app's private storage. These photos are never uploaded.
These local records are not uploaded by Kachu. A separate routine-completion event is sent to Firebase Analytics as described below. "Reset progress" in Settings deletes your progress and photos. Uninstalling Kachu deletes all of it.
Camera
During the routine Kachu uses the front camera to check your moves. Each frame is analysed on your phone by Google ML Kit, which runs on the device, and then discarded. Live camera frames, face or body landmarks and video are not uploaded and are not retained after processing. If you separately enable Premium daily photos, one completion selfie is stored locally as described above. You can do the routine without the camera.
Accessibility Service
Kachu uses Android's Accessibility Service to see which app is open, so it can show the Locked screen when you open an app you chose to lock. It does not read what is on your screen or what you type. It does not collect or share this information, and nothing it sees leaves your phone. You turn it on yourself in Android settings after Kachu explains it, and you can turn it off there at any time.
Shared with Google
Ads (Google AdMob) are shown in the free version. AdMob receives IP addresses (which can indicate approximate location), advertising and other device identifiers, app/ad interactions and diagnostic information for advertising, analytics and fraud prevention. In the EEA and UK you are asked for consent first. You can change that choice in Settings → Ad privacy choices. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in Android settings. Premium removes all ads. How Google uses this data.
Analytics (Google Firebase Analytics) receives pseudonymous usage events linked to identifiers such as an app instance ID. Events include onboarding steps, protection enabled, routine completion (and whether the camera was used), emergency access, ads shown and purchased product IDs. Routine completion describes exercise activity. Google may also process advertising/device identifiers, device model, OS version and approximate location according to SDK and account settings. No names, no list of your apps, no camera data. We use it to see which parts of Kachu work and which don't.
Crash reports (Google Firebase Crashlytics) receive crash stack traces, relevant application state, device metadata, installation identifiers and usage breadcrumbs when supported, so we can fix bugs.
Purchases (Google Play Billing) are handled entirely by Google Play. We never see your card or payment details. Kachu receives purchase/product information needed to check and restore Premium. Purchased product IDs may also be logged in analytics. Kachu does not receive card or bank details.
Notifications
Kachu reminds you at your lock time, warns you one minute before an emergency unlock ends, and may nudge you in the evening. These are created on your phone. You can turn them off in Settings.
What we don't do
We don't sell your data. Advertising and analytics providers may process identifiers and interactions according to your choices and their policies; Kachu does not create its own account profile. We don't read your other apps' content, contacts, messages or files.
How long data is kept
Data on your phone is kept until you reset progress or uninstall Kachu. Google-held analytics and crash data follow the configured service retention periods and Google's policies. We do not claim fixed periods here until the actual settings are verified. Analytics retention; Firebase privacy and retention.
Your choices and rights
You can turn off the camera, notifications, daily photos and the Accessibility Service at any time. You can ask us what data we have about you or ask us to delete it at vikasbuilds.ofc@gmail.com. There is no Kachu account system. SDK data can still be linked to app or device identifiers. Requests concerning that data depend on whether records can be identified and on the provider's available deletion tools; uninstalling the app does not itself erase previously transmitted data. See how to delete your data.
Children
Kachu is for adults 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top. For significant changes, we will also tell you in the app.
